Introduction:
The Youth Orchestra of Boston Chinese Musicians Association (BCMA Youth Orchestra) is a non-profit performing arts organization founded on January 12, 2019. It is one of the orchestras under the Boston Chinese Musicians Association. The Youth Orchestra is uniquely positioned, to promote traditional Chinese folk music, combining traditional Chinese and Western musical instruments.
The purposes of the Youth Orchestra are two- fold. First, it provides a platform for young musicians in the Greater Boston Area to learn Chinese culture and play Chinese music. The Orchestra is conducted by a professional conductor and students of different instruments are coached by professional musicians. Through rehearsals, concerts, and other public performances, the students will not only improve their musical instrument playing but also learn Chinese culture and enhance their artistic expression. Second, the Youth Orchestra provides a training ground for young people who would like to become members of BCMA’s full orchestra.
Rehearsal schedule (TBA):
In general, the Youth Orchestra rehearses once every other week for two hours each rehearsal.
