Youth Orchestra
The Youth Orchestra of Boston Chinese Musicians Association (BCMA Youth Orchestra) is a non-profit performing arts organization founded on January 12, 2019. It is one of the orchestras under the Boston Chinese Musician Association. Uniquely positioned, the Youth Orchestra is to promote traditional Chinese folk music, combining traditional Chinese and Western musical instruments.
The purposes of the Youth Orchestra are two- fold. First, it provides a platform for young musicians in the Greater Boston Area to learn Chinese culture and play Chinese music. The Orchestra is conducted by a professional conductor and the students of difference instruments are coached by professional musicians. Through rehearsals, concert and other public performances, the students will not only improve their musical instrument playing but also learn Chinese culture and enhance their artistic expressions. Second, the Youth Orchestra provides a training ground for young people who would like to become a member of BCMA’s full orchestra.
Rehearsal schedule (TBA):
In general, the Youth Orchestra rehearse once every other week and two hours for each rehearsal.
Example of Concert:
May 18, 2019, the first concert was held in the Winchester McCall Middle School Auditorium, which was well received by the community and praised by diversified audience. The concert was also reported on the local news media.
